MORALS
Our MORALS are ours alone to create and uphold as we mature.
They are not something we are born with; they are something we learn like good manners.
Our heart’s palate develops through trial and error through the years, savoring some MORALS and spitting others out. Like our choice in music, books, food, fragrance, beauty and art, love and truths MORAL compass is about bringing then sustaining joy, security, respect and meaning into our lives.
Without a reliable MORAL compass to help us know our own heart’s “true north” we get lost in relationships and in life as beauty, joy, respect and meaning fade off into the distance.
Those of us that have a committed relationship to our heart’s true MORALS may at times be called difficult or stubborn by others.
So be it, is my view!
MORALITY and conformity or social obedience often clash and it is at these times our MORAL character is tested.
Can we bear accusations about our character from another and not betray our own heart’s truth?
Shakespeare’s wisdom comes to mind as I write this; he is one of my most favourite wordsmiths and mentors …
“To thine own self be true, then we can’t be false to another.”
The only way we can truly honour those we love is to honour our own MORALITY, even when most importantly it is inconvenient.
Honouring our MORALITY is an act of self-care and self-love based on doing what is right and true for us regardless of what we are told we “should” be or do.
Obedience and conformity is at times an act of fear and self-neglect if we are doing or being what we are told we “should” regardless of what is right for us.
The most constructive mediator between our head’s thoughts and our body’s actions is our heart’s MORALS. This is why I harp on about working on our Emotional Fitness (our marriage of head, heart and body) so much.
Our heart’s truth is our MORAL compass that can only point us in the right direction; it cannot make us go there.
It takes courage and great emotional muscle to back ourselves and really “go there”, for at times this means standing alone.
However, if we stand alone in love and respect for ourselves we are in good company, rather than standing with others with fear and self-betrayal thundering in our heart.
May our heart’s MORAL voice be heard and honoured today.
Lotsa love Cynthia xxx
