Have you heard of The K.I.S.S. Principle?
No, I am not talking about the “I was made for loving you” band.
I am referring to the K.I.S.S. acronym recovering addicts like myself are encouraged to remember.
It is a helpful, EASY to remember tip to apply no matter what complex life issue we are entangling ourselves from. It stands for …
“Keep it SIMPLE, Superhero .”
OK might sound a bit cliche’, but so many of us overcomplicate our approach to solutions when just keeping it SIMPLE will help minimise unnecessary anxiety and pain.
EASIER said than done!
Here is the word SIMPLE’S partner in crime, the uber cool and casual word Mr EASY peasy!
SIMPLE and EASY too often are tangled up together when we are trying to unravel solutions.
However, what is SIMPLE is rarely, I have found, EASY.
When something is kept SIMPLE we make a conscious effort to not divert from a tried and true formula. It could be directions on how to get to a new address, or how to give up smoking or make an apology. A SIMPLE approach means we take the honest, unembellished, straightforward route to reach our desired destiny. However, we all know giving up ciggies, following a foreign map and saying sorry are not always EASY to do.
Our dear friend, this casually whistling word EASY, describes something we undertake that requires minimal effort as an uncomplicated, non-demanding task. Some of the hardest changes most of us will ever make will be SIMPLE in theory and talking the talk, but not EASY when it comes to putting in the consistent hard work and walkin’ the walk.
So whenever I find myself in overwhelm looking for an alternative route (usually a short cut) to get to my desired destination the K.I.S.S, of life tip will help me get to my desired outcome as long as I’m willing to put in the effort.
If complicated emotions or situations arise, remembering to not run, divert nor procrastinate but to head straightforward with unembellished honesty, will build our self-respect and character.
SIMPLE, yes.
EASY?
Shit no!
Lotsa love Cynthia xxx
