Tribe

There is no escaping the fact that we are TRIBAL creatures.

People come and go, but every now and then we encounter a refreshing person who cuts through the superficial social crap and touches us deeply and beautifully and we feel at home. Our heart quietly says, “Oh there you are, I’ve been looking for you all my life”. In that moment we know we have found a life companion, and member of our TRIBE.

To emotionally survive with an open heart in this life, like it or not, we all need a heart TRIBE. Even proud lone wolf introverts like myself who prefer time alone, than time with crowds. Our heart needs to hold hands with others from time to time.

Solitude away from our TRIBE is absolutely essential for us all too, However, in order to remain emotionally robust we need to remain willing to be connected to a “heart” TRIBE all throughout our life.

Biological family isn’t always an available option for some of us though. Death, geographical distance or the need for emotional self-preservation is often why biological TRIBES disconnect.

Nonetheless for our hearts wellbeing a robust connection with others who value and respect us for who we are, not what we do or can do for them, and not for what we have gives us a place to share laughter and tears and be intimately known.

Those of us, who have a sense of belonging and allow ourselves to be known and loved, are then able to find the courage to be imperfect.

So let’s ensure we do our very best to remain willing to be known? And not close off and hide from the world when we are facing our own imperfections and grief?

It matters not whether our TRIBE is born of biology or choice, what matters is that love is present at whatever table we’re seated at.

If love is not being served at our table where our most intimate relationships take a seat, let’s give ourselves permission to get up and excuse ourselves?

For when a TRIBE is free of disrespect and oppression it can be the one place where we share our deepest secrets and stand the most exposed; a place where we learn to feel distinct and special without being better, and how to compromise with others without losing ourselves!

You my dear, dear cyberspace family I consider as a treasured heart TRIBE I connect with in this gentle space each day. Thank you for being a beautiful and emotionally nourishing part of my world.

Lotsa love Cynthia xxx
