“You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
Thank you Buddha for the reminder!
If we emotionally live for people’s acceptance, we will feel like it is an emotional death if they reject us.
When we lack confidence in ourselves, we desperately crave admiration and VALIDATION from others. We then survive only by relying on the reflection, VALIDATION and approval of ourselves through the eyes of others. It makes it tough to just relax and stop trying to get it right, be good enough and be authentically who we truly are.
Consistently seeking external VALIDATION is not living, it is surviving.
Survival mode is fear driven, and a stressful existence results as a lack of our self-confidence.
If we persistently seek VALIDATION from our relationships, over time we erode our self-respect. The external noise of others opinions of us can make it difficult to even hear our hearts inner voice, which is our life compass designed to direct us back to our home base of self respect when we feel lost.
We will never feel secure in any relationship whilst we seek externally those emotional treasures from others we must first learn to give ourselves; VALIDATION, self worth and self loyalty.
When we become willing to fearlessly claim who we are and who we are not, only then can we build confidence and be truly known in relationships.
So let’s remember from this moment forward to self VALIDATE by honouring with confidence who we are unashamedly and live with rather than survive through others?
As Dodinsky so wisely reminds us ….
“If you persistently seek VALIDATION from others you will inadvertently invalidate your own self worth.”
