People Pleasing

When we give others their way because we are too fearful not to, this is the definition of dangerous PEOPLE PLEASING. This lifestyle drains our energy and authenticity as we give our power away, fearful that we are unlovable or unacceptable if we do not conform.

Any relationship that involves one party consistently dishonouring their truth too afraid of the other’s disappointment, is not a healthy partnership, but a dictatorship.

PEOPLE PLEASERS and emotional blackmailers end up losing their self-respect.

Let us ensure we take just a little more responsibility for our “yes” and our “no” answers. If those we love cannot be questioned, disappointed if they don’t get their way, and encouraged to negotiate for the best result for all concerned, emotional maturity is an issue. We cannot change another, only ourselves, so the question today is to ourselves when it comes to PEOPLE PLEASING. Why are we enabling an unhealthy relationship?

What are we afraid of?

Emotional Fitness is the practice of improving self-respect and giving ourselves permission for sacred self-time to recharge so we let go of martyrdom.

First things first, we cannot be there for others if we are not there for ourselves.

Do we PEOPLE PLEASE compromising our morals and ourselves in order to win the love and approval of those in our lives? If so it’s time to review our own level of maturity in those relationships, remembering we teach people how to treat us.

So let’s love and accept ourselves a little more remembering our value for who we are, not what we do, so we fill not drain our heart’s energy tank.

“There is only one way to avoid criticism and disappointment and that is to do nothing, be nothing and say nothing.” Aristotle wisely reminds us of the cost of losing our voice and our value.
