Resentment

RESENTMENT

RESENTMENT hijacks our peace of mind.

Consistently resending upsetting thoughts to ourself is like jabbing a sharp stick into a heart wound, we cannot heal; it only inflames our fear causing us pain.

So here are a few questions to ask ourselves if RESENTMENT becomes an issue.

1. Is the offender mirroring behaviour we have ever been guilty of in our past?

2. Are we too fearful to address this?

3. What does this issue reveal about ourselves?

The cure for RESENTMENT is resolution as it’s a love-based pursuit. RESENTMENT is fear-based.

If we’re not willing to resolve it, this issue will continue to repeat in our lives until we are. Relationships are assignments designed to help both parties grow and learn. They are often challenging. RESENTING rather than embracing the relationship challenge withers our Emotional Fitness.

We can not change anyone else but ourselves. Resolution may mean we leave the relationship. Sometimes the most loving thing we can do is live and let live. Leaving people to be as they are as adults means we stop enabling or giving unsolicited advice. Sometimes, taking ourselves out of their orbit if they are choosing to continue with disrespect towards themselves or us is the healthiest decision for all parties.

Resolving the RESENTMENT can also mean that we stay, but install clearer more respectful boundaries and work through the fear and pain if both parties are willing.

What do we hold on to and what do we let go of?

We hold on to love for ourselves and others even if we have to leave them. This is self-empowerment. We let go of fear of ourselves and others and refuse to give our power away. When we hold on to RESENTMENT we are giving our power and peace of mind away.

It’s always our choice. We can have peace or we can have pain.

So let’s remember if we’ve been wronged and become tempted to fight fire with fire, or tackle our fears with fears (inflame our RESENTMENT) that a firefighter usually finds resolution when facing a fire with water (love), not more fire (fear).

So what is it to be?

RESENTMENT (fear) or resolution (love) it is always our choice, simple yet not easy.

May your heart be full of cooling love whenever any fear fires cross your path.

Lotsa love Cynthia xxx
